WI Women:

Two games into this series and West Indies Women are already in a hovel. Sri Lanka won the second T20I by four wickets on March 1, and that result means Tuesday’s final match in Grenada is now a straight shootout — win or the series is gone.

It has been a rough week, if truth be told. The first game on February 28 ended in no result due to rain, but West Indies had already done the damage to themselves long before the covers came on. Bowled out for 49 in 13.3 overs — that is not a rain-affected match, that is a batting unit that fell apart completely. Sri Lanka were 7-0 in 2.5 overs when play was abandoned, so the scorebook says no result but everyone watching knew which way that one was heading.

The second match gave a slightly better picture with the bat. West Indies made 101-9 from their 20 overs, which at least looked like a cricket score, but Sri Lanka chased it down in 18.1 overs with four wickets to spare and barely broke a sweat doing it.

So March 3 it is. Win and the series ends level. Lose and this tour ends on a sour note.

Matthews carries this batting line-up on her shoulders more than she probably should, and she knows it. Coming into the series she had 417 runs from her last nine T20Is and scored 109 in five WPL 2026 innings — the form was there. It just has not translated yet. Joseph at the other end has 133 runs from her last nine games and is more than capable of a good power play partnership with her captain. West Indies need the two of them to actually put one together in the game that matters most.

Taylor has been here before, many times over. A hundred and twenty-six T20Is and 3,426 runs since 2008 — she has batted in tighter spots than this and come through. The middle overs have been where West Indies have struggled to build anything meaningful in this series, and fixing that starts with Taylor being at her composed best.

Henry and Dottin are two players who can make a total look very different in a short space of time. There is nothing manufactured about the way either of them hits the ball — that power is just there — and getting above 150 strike rate is well within reach for both when things click.

Ramharack is the bowler in this attack who will have Sri Lanka’s top order thinking the hardest. Seven wickets in the ODI series, nine in the Blaze T20 2026, and 37 career wickets from 48 Women’s T20Is — she is in the kind of nick where you can just tell the rhythm is right. Fletcher is the steady presence alongside her, 96 wickets from exactly 100 T20I appearances and the sort of bowler who makes batting look harder than it should be without doing anything flashy.

Matthews with the ball has not quite found her best this series. That said, writing off someone with 113 T20I wickets based on a rough patch is a mistake Sri Lanka’s batters would be unwise to make.

One game left. West Indies have let this series slip away from them a little, but Tuesday gives them the chance to at least end it on their own terms.

SL Women:

Sri Lanka Women come into this third T20I knowing the series is theirs to lose. They lead 1-0, they have already pocketed the ODI series 2-1, and Tuesday in Grenada is essentially a free hit for them — win and they take the series, lose and they still walk away with a share.

The first T20I still stings a bit, in fairness. West Indies were 49 all out and Sri Lanka were 7-0 when rain wiped everything out. That was a 1-0 lead that never got recorded, and anyone who watched that match knows how it was going. Still, they recovered from that frustration well enough in the second game and that is what a good side does.

Athapaththu is, as always, the name everything revolves around. A hundred and fifty-two T20Is, 3,566 runs, and 65 wickets — she has been doing this long enough that opposition teams game-plan specifically around getting her out early. When she does not get out early, matches tend to go Sri Lanka’s way. She opens the batting, she captains the side, and on her day she can single-handedly make a game feel one-sided very quickly.

Perera alongside her at the top has been in decent touch coming off 165 runs in the recent series against India. She is not the flashy option but she does not need to be — her job is to keep Athapaththu company while she does her thing, and she has done that well enough.

Gunaratne carried her ODI form into this series and will be looking to do the same on Tuesday. Dulani and Nilakshi De Silva in the middle give Sri Lanka options and experience, and then Samarawickrama is the one who can hurt you late. One hundred and seventy-one runs in three ODIs on this very tour, and 1,611 runs in 78 T20Is since 2016 — she knows exactly what her role is and keeps delivering in it.

The bowling is honestly where West Indies will feel the most discomfort. Dilhari took three wickets in the first T20I before the rain came and has been building nicely — five wickets against India recently and 11 across her last ten matches. She is bowling with confidence and that matters. Ranaweera is the one who really did the damage in the ODI series though, eight wickets in three games, and she has enough experience of Caribbean conditions to know how to use them. Madara and Sewwandi give the captain pace options when needed, but realistically, spin is going to be the weapon Sri Lanka rely on heaviest again. West Indies batters have already shown they struggle against quality spin on this tour. Sri Lanka have two of the best available to them. That is a difficult problem to solve in one match.

National Cricket Stadium, St Georges, Grenada: Pitch Report

Spin is going to be a big factor here, that much is clear from how the first two T20Is have gone in this series. Batters who come in and try to play their natural game from ball one tend to get into trouble on surfaces like this — settling in first and picking the right ball to attack is the smarter approach. Both openers will have one eye on the power play though, because those early field restrictions do not last forever and runs scored inside the first six overs carry serious weight in a match like this.
