If you are searching for the GT vs CSK Today Match Prediction, you are in the right place. Thursday night at Narendra Modi Stadium and the two sides walking out for this final league fixture could not be in more different places. Gujarat Titans are already through, playing for a top-two finish and all the advantages that come with it. Chennai Super Kings lost to SRH on Monday and now need to win here, in Ahmedabad, against the best home team in this competition, and hope other results fall their way. It is a brilliant setup for a match and we have broken down everything β pitch, weather, form, key battles and who we are backing β right here before the toss.
Gujarat Titans (GT) Preview and Performance
Fifteen experienced T20 cricket journalists having covered this competition since 2008, and what Gujarat Titans have done in this second half of IPL 2026 remains genuinely impressive. After a relatively stuttering start that had people questioning whether Shubman Gill had the right combination, GT went on a five-match winning streak that was as dominant as anything seen in this competition since KKR 2024. GT bowled SRH out for 86. They chased 220-plus with authority. They arrived at the top of the table and cemented themselves as one of the most complete sides in IPL 2026.
The winning streak ended against KKR at Eden Gardens four days ago. But even in that loss, Shubman Gill came to the crease and made 85 in a chase of 218 before they eventually fell short. This is not a team losing form. It is a team that had one bad night against an opponent riding a remarkable wave of form and desperation. Going into Ahmedabad on Thursday, GT look like the same balanced, clinical side that has made them such a consistent performer throughout this tournament.
Sai Sudharsan has been their standout performer with 554 runs in 13 matches β second on the Orange Cap list behind Klaasen only on boundary count. He made 87 off 46 balls when these two sides met in Chennai in April and completely dismantled CSK’s bowling attack. Shubman Gill himself sits on 552 runs. Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar provide the middle-order firepower that makes GT genuinely hard to contain in the back half of an innings.
But it is the bowling where GT have been truly exceptional this season. Kagiso Rabada leads the competition with 21 wickets and is the most reliable pace spearhead in IPL 2026. His spell against CSK in April β 3/25 in the powerplay β set the tone for an 8-wicket win. Mohammed Siraj gives him aggressive support. And Rashid Khan, operating in the middle overs at his home ground in Ahmedabad on a surface that offers him something, is arguably the biggest threat in this match for CSK’s right-hand-heavy batting lineup.
GT have won 7 of their 8 home games at the Narendra Modi Stadium this season. They have the best bowling attack in the competition, Shubman Gill leading from the front and a dressing room that is relaxed, confident and already through. This is as comfortable a setting as GT will play in all season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Preview and Performance
There is a story worth telling about Chennai Super Kings’ season and it does not get told enough. They have been on the brink of elimination more than once, fought back repeatedly and still find themselves with a mathematical chance going into the final league game. That resilience is characteristic of this franchise and Ruturaj Gaikwad deserves enormous credit for keeping the group together through a genuinely difficult campaign.
The facts are stark though. Twelve points from 13 matches. Six wins and seven losses. They lost to SRH by five wickets on Monday in their final home game β a game they absolutely had to win to keep their fate in their own hands. They restricted SRH to a challenging target of 181 but Ishan Kishan played one of the innings of the tournament, smashing 70 off 47 balls, and took SRH home. CSK’s bowling, which had been brilliant all season, could not hold on when it mattered most.
Anshul Kamboj has been the standout performer with 20 wickets and firmly in the Purple Cap conversation. He dismissed SRH twice in the final over of their last two meetings and has been remarkably consistent all season. Noor Ahmad gives CSK genuine mystery spin options in the middle overs and his economy rate of 7.89 makes him one of the hardest spinners to score off in this competition. But the bowling that works so well at Chepauk will face very different conditions tonight at a flat, fast Ahmedabad surface.
The batting has been the frustration. Sanju Samson has been brilliant at the top with two centuries this season. Gaikwad himself made 67 not out in the MI win and has two back-to-back fifties in his last three innings. Kartik Sharma has been reliable at number four. But CSK’s middle order collapses under pressure β six of their seven defeats this season have involved a batting collapse in either the middle overs or the powerplay where they could not cope with pace bowling early.
And that is the problem tonight. Kagiso Rabada, Narendra Modi Stadium and a fast outfield is exactly the environment that exposes CSK’s vulnerability. Rabada dismissed both Gaikwad and Sanju Samson in the first two overs of their April meeting at Chennai. In Ahmedabad, on a surface with more pace and carry, he will be even harder to handle. CSK’s best hope tonight is a genuinely inspired performance with the bat early, a total around 175 to 180 and then their spinners doing enough damage against GT’s left-hand heavy top order. It is possible. GT’s five-match winning streak just ended. CSK are a five-time champions franchise with match-winners throughout the squad. But on balance, Ahmedabad is the hardest place in IPL 2026 to beat Gujarat Titans.

Key Players to Watch β GT vs CSK, Match 66, IPL 2026
GT Batting
- Sai Sudharsan: 554 runs this season, second on the Orange Cap list and in the form of his career. Made 87 off 46 against CSK in April at Chennai. Narendra Modi Stadium is his home ground and he will be looking to dominate their spinners from the first ball tonight.
- Shubman Gill: 552 runs including a brilliant 85 in the KKR loss despite the team falling short. Leading his side in all the right ways this season. GT’s captain provides calm authority at number two and anchors any innings he is involved in.
- Jos Buttler: 355 runs and GT’s most explosive middle-order option. When Buttler clicks in the 12 to 16 over bracket, GT post totals that are almost impossible to chase. CSK’s spinners need to get him early or the total will be out of reach.
GT Bowling
- Kagiso Rabada: 21 wickets β the competition’s leading wicket-taker. Took 3/25 against CSK in April and dismissed both openers in the powerplay. On a Ahmedabad surface with pace and carry, expect him to be equally dangerous tonight. The standout Player of the Match candidate.
- Rashid Khan: 16 wickets and bowling at his home ground where the surface offers him bounce and grip. CSK’s middle order, which has struggled against quality spin all season, will find him a completely different challenge to anything they face at Chepauk.
- Mohammed Siraj: 13 wickets and the perfect support act to Rabada. His ability to reverse swing in the second innings and take wickets at the death makes him GT’s most dangerous second-innings weapon. CSK’s tail have struggled against pace all season.
CSK Batting
- Sanju Samson: Two centuries this season and CSK’s most explosive batter. When Samson attacks in the powerplay overs, CSK get to 50-plus for 0 and the whole innings takes shape. His battle against Rabada in overs one to four is the most important passage of this match.
- Ruturaj Gaikwad: Two fifties in his last three innings and growing in confidence. Captain at this level who absorbs pressure and builds innings. If he bats through 15 overs tonight CSK have a realistic total to defend. If he goes early, CSK’s middle order has to step up.
- Kartik Sharma: CSK’s most consistent number four this season with 71 off 42 against LSG and consistent performances throughout. On a flat Ahmedabad surface, his ability to rotate strike and accelerate late is crucial for CSK reaching 170-plus.
CSK Bowling
- Anshul Kamboj: 20 wickets, firmly in the Purple Cap race and CSK’s most reliable weapon all season. Has been slightly expensive in his last three matches but remains dangerous with the new ball. Gets pace and movement at Ahmedabad early and will be key in the powerplay.
- Noor Ahmad: 12 wickets at an economy of 7.89 β the standout spinner in this match. His left-arm wrist spin creates a natural off-spin angle into the stumps of right-handers. If he can control the middle overs and keep GT’s middle order quiet between overs 7 and 15, CSK are in the game.
- Akeal Hosein: The left-arm orthodox spinner provides CSK with a completely different angle to Noor Ahmad. Against GT’s left-hand heavy lineup β Sudharsan, Buttler β his ability to turn the ball away from the bat is a genuine tactical advantage for CSK tonight.
GT vs CSK Weather Report Ahmedabad | May 21
Ahmedabad in May is one of the hottest venues on the IPL calendar. Temperatures will be pushing 40 degrees Celsius during the day and while the evening brings some relief, it will still be 30 to 34 degrees at the time of the toss tonight. There is no rain expected β the forecast is completely clear and a full 40-over game is guaranteed.
The significant factor tonight is dew. Ahmedabad evenings in May produce consistent dew from around the 14th to 16th over of the second innings and that changes the match dynamic considerably. Spinners lose their grip, the ball skids through faster and chasing becomes much easier in the back half of the second innings. Both captains will factor this into the toss decision and it is the primary reason bowling first remains the preferred option at this venue despite the surface favouring batters for the majority of the match.
GT vs CSK Match 66 Pitch Report β Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
The Narendra Modi Stadium is a batter’s ground and IPL 2026 has confirmed it β average first innings score here is 181 runs with totals of 195-plus regularly achievable on a fast outfield. Seam bowlers get movement in the powerplay, Rashid Khan finds grip in the middle overs, and then dew takes over from around the 15th over of the second innings. Interestingly though, batting first wins 60 percent of matches here this season because the first innings totals are simply too large to chase under pressure β 190-plus at Ahmedabad is a genuine defend and CSK will need to post at least 175 to give their spinners anything to work with tonight.
GT vs CSK Toss Prediction β Match 66, IPL 2026
Our GT vs CSK Toss Prediction β GT to win the toss and bowl first. Shubman Gill has consistently opted to field first at Narendra Modi Stadium this season and the dew factor in Ahmedabad evenings in May gives him every reason to do the same tonight. Rabada and Siraj with a fresh ball on a seam-friendly surface in the powerplay against CSK’s top order is exactly the matchup GT want to have. If CSK win the toss, expect them to bat first β putting a total on the board is their only realistic path to winning this match. Both captains will be clear on their strategy before they even walk out for the coin flip.
