Lucknow Super Giants head into Match 32 in a hole of their own making. Two wins, four losses, and a net run rate of -1.173 says it plainly enough. The cruelest part is the shape of it — a promising start with back-to-back away wins has curdled into three straight defeats, the last of which was a 54-run beating by Punjab Kings that left very few answers in the dressing room.
The batting has had contributors, just not the right ones at the right time. Aiden Markram tops the run charts with 162 at a strike rate of 160.39, Marsh has made 155, and Mukul Choudhary has quietly put together 148 runs at 49.33 which is probably the one bright story of the season so far.

When your two most experienced pace bowlers are leaking runs at that rate, the opposition bats with confidence and so far they have.

Jofra Archer has eight wickets and brings genuine pace at both ends of the innings, and Ravindra Jadeja’s five wickets at an economy of 6.50 have been quietly invaluable. Sandeep Sharma, going at 10.86 an over, is the one area where RR will want more control.
