Team Preview and Performance
WI-Women:
West Indies came into this series hoping for a strong showing at home and instead find themselves 2-0 down with one game left to save face. The second T20I followed a similar pattern to the first โ moments of promise undone by a failure to hold pressure when Australia applied it.
Chasing 165 at Arnos Vale, West Indies needed a strong start and did not get one. Joseph went early for 11 and the innings never recovered full momentum from that point. Matthews held things together brilliantly โ her 56 off 41 balls was the innings of the match for West Indies and showed exactly what this side can do when a batter commits fully to the chase. Taylor managed 22 but could not shift gears the way the situation demanded, and Dottin came in late and played a fighting 39 not out off 28 to give the total some respectability. West Indies finished on 147-4, 17 runs short, and the series was gone.
The honest takeaway is that Matthews was the only batter who genuinely looked like winning the game for West Indies. If two or three others can match that level of intent in the final match, this could be a very different contest. Dottin’s unbeaten cameo also shows she can contribute with the bat, not just the ball, and that combination needs to be in the game from the start tonight rather than walking in at the death.
With the ball, Dottin led well and Ramharack picked up a wicket. The issue was not the bowling โ 164 was always gettable on this ground with better batting โ it was the top order that once again let the side down.
West Indies Women Probable XI: Hayley Matthews (c), Qiana Joseph, Shemaine Campbelle, Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin, Chinelle Henry, Mandy Mangru, Aaliyah Alleyne, Afy Fletcher, Karishma Ramharack, Shawnisha Hector.
AUS-Women:
Australia have been clinical across both games and will arrive at the series finale looking to complete a clean sweep and leave the Caribbean having dropped nothing. The second T20I showed both the depth of this batting line-up and the minor cracks that have appeared in what is otherwise a very polished performance.
Georgia Voll was outstanding at the top with 39 off just 23 balls, giving Australia the aggressive start they wanted after winning the toss and electing to bat. Litchfield was composed with 35 off 29 to build through the middle and then Ellyse Perry did what Perry does – walked in and hit 42 off 28 in the closing overs to push the total past 160. Mooney had an off day by her standards, managing just 17, but the depth in this line-up meant it barely mattered. 164-5 was a competitive total and it proved to be enough.
With the ball, Alana King was once again the key mover. Two wickets for 25 runs kept the pressure on at exactly the right moments and Georgia Wareham chipped in with a wicket of her own. Kim Garth was tight with figures of 4-1-20-0 and gave West Indies nothing easy through the power play.
The 17-run margin flatters West Indies slightly, the game felt more comfortable than that for most of the chase. Australia go into the final match with the series already sealed but with plenty of motivation to end things on the right note.
Australia Women Probable XI: Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield, Ellyse Perry, Tahlia McGrath, Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Voll, Sophie Molineux (c), Kim Garth, Alana King, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown.
Key Players to Watch
West Indies Women
- Hayley Matthews: Her 56 off 41 in the second T20I was the best innings of the match, needs to repeat that and go even bigger tonight
- Deandra Dottin: 39 not out with the bat and a wicket with the ball, can win this game single-handedly on her day
- Stafanie Taylor: Has experience but has been below her best this series and a big knock from her tonight would change the game completely
Australia Women
- Georgia Voll โ 39 off 23 in the second T20I set the tone for the entire innings, dangerous from ball one.
- Ellyse Perry โ Walked in and hit 42 off 28 to finish the second game off, exactly the kind of match-winning cameo this line-up relies on.
- Alana King โ Two wickets in the second T20I, already knows how to trouble this batting lineup and will be the central figure with the ball again.

WI-W vs AUS-W Pitch Report and Toss Condition
Arnos Vale has behaved consistently across this series. The surface grips for spinners from early on and slows noticeably as the innings develops, making the chase progressively harder the later you go. Both matches have shown that anything above 150 is competitive here and anything around 165 becomes very difficult to chase once the spinners settle in.
Batting first has been the right call in both games and Australia have made full use of that by winning the toss each time. Neither captain will change their thinking for the finale. Expect the toss winner to bat first again โ and on the evidence of this series, Australia winning that toss feels likely.

Our WI-W vs AUS-W 2nd T20 Prediction: Result
We backed Australia Women to win in the 2nd T20 Match Prediction and they delivered. Australia posted 164-5 with Georgia Voll (39 off 23) and Ellyse Perry (42 off 28) doing the bulk of the damage. West Indies put up a fight โ Matthews was outstanding with 56 off 41 and Dottin hit a late 39 not out โ but 147-4 was not enough and Australia won by 17 runs. We also called Australia to win the toss and bat first, and that proved correct again. Two from two on predictions. Now we are backing them to finish the series 3-0 tonight.
WI-W vs AUS-W 3rd T20I Match Prediction
The toss winner will bat first โ that has been proven right twice at Arnos Vale this week and neither captain will change their thinking for the finale.
West Indies showed more fight in the second game than the first. Matthews played the innings of the series and Dottin showed she can contribute with bat and ball. But Australia are the stronger side across every department and have already shown twice how to win on this surface. Unless West Indies bat with the kind of intent Matthews brought in game two from the very first ball, this one looks like going the same way.
