Verma, who leads the run charts in the Senior Women’s T20 League, received the call-up while in Surat and will join the Indian team for their training session on Tuesday in Navi Mumbai. The Haryana skipper was once a regular opening partner to Smriti Mandhana but lost her spot last year after a dip in form during the three-match series against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Since then, Verma has shown remarkable form, smashing 341 runs in seven innings for Haryana, including a brilliant hundred and two half-centuries. She’s averaged 56.83 with a fiery strike rate of 182.35, proving she’s back to her best.
Verma, who earned a spot in the India A squad for the World Cup 2025 warm-up match against New Zealand, made the most of her chance. She smashed a quick-fire 70 off just 49 balls, setting the tone for India A’s four-wicket victory (DLS method) at Bengaluru’s CoE.
