Sydney Thunder Confirms Ashwin’s Withdrawal
The Sydney Thunder made a statement that they are working closely with R. Ashwin, planning to revise his schedule after his recovery. Earlier this year, 2025, he retired from the IPL and was available only for the BBL before the injury while training in Chennai—his decision to withdraw from this overseas league.

The Big Bash League is set to begin on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The first match was Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers, where Ashwin missed the first match of the league.
