Gujarat Titans Preview and Performance
Gujarat Titans have bounced back in IPL 2026 after winning their last two games on the trot. Two wins, two losses, 4 points, 6th on the table. It’s not a pretty picture overall but the recent form changes the conversation a bit.
The first two games were genuinely difficult to watch as a GT fan. Punjab Kings got over the line chasing 162 with five balls to go in Match 4, a game that was there for the taking. Then Rajasthan. GT went and made 204/8 chasing 210 and still couldn’t get over the line. Six runs. Those are the kind of losses that sit with you.
GT didn’t crumble though. Delhi Capitals were beaten by one run, last ball of the game, Prasidh Krishna doing what needed to be done under serious pressure. Then Lucknow came to town and GT barely had to try, Gill and Buttler just quietly knocked off 165 with seven wickets to spare. Two wins, two totally different situations handled well.
Buttler has 176 runs in the bank at 44, two fifties already. Gill is actually the steadier of the two, 165 runs at 55, leading the side without much fuss. Together at the top they’ve given GT a platform in nearly every game.
Prasidh has been something else. Ten wickets from four matches, and his 4/28 against LSG was the kind of spell that just kills a chase stone dead. Rashid has been Rashid, five wickets, 6.87 economy, still no one has figured him out and probably no one will.
GT go into Friday’s game against KKR with back-to-back wins and a squad that looks a lot more like themselves. Three in a row is very much on their mind.
Kolkata Knight Riders Preview and Performance
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are having their worst start to an IPL season. Five games, zero wins, four losses, one no result due to rain, and sitting dead last with an NRR of -1.383. For a side that won the title just two years ago, this is genuinely hard to explain.
The losses have come in different ways too, which makes it harder to pin down one single problem. Mumbai Indians beat them by 6 wickets in the opener. Sunrisers hammered them by 65 runs in Match 6. Lucknow edged them out by 3 wickets.
Then CSK put them away by 32 runs last time out. The rain abandonment against Punjab Kings felt like the only time they avoided a result going against them this season.
The batting has been all over the place. Roles aren’t clear, the order keeps shifting, and the big money signing Cameron Green has been a real disappointment. Twenty-five crore rupees and 56 runs to show for five games. That’s not a slow start anymore, that’s a problem. Rinku Singh, the man KKR fans rely on to pull off the impossible, has just 78 runs in five outings.
The form has completely deserted him. Even in the loss to CSK, it was Ramandeep Singh (35) and Rovman Powell (31*) who provided the most resistance with the bat not the names KKR would have written down at the start of the season as their go-to contributors.
The two who’ve kept KKR’s batting from total embarrassment are Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane. Raghuvanshi is young, fearless, and currently their top scorer with 182 runs at 45.50. He’s the one bright spot in an otherwise grim batting unit. Rahane has chipped in with 152 runs including a fifty, quietly doing his job while everything around him has fallen apart.
The bowling hasn’t been much better. The attack has generally lacked the bite needed to defend totals or restrict teams. Blessing Muzarabani has been decent, four wickets in two matches, but that’s about as positive as it gets.
KKR travel to Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday to face Gujarat Titans desperately needing their first win of the season. Playoff hopes are fading fast, and at this point, another loss could effectively end their campaign before it ever really got started.

Gujarat Titans
- Jos Buttler: In strong form at the top of the order, Buttler has scored 176 runs in four matches with back-to-back fifties against Delhi and Lucknow, making him the most dangerous powerplay threat GT will bring to Ahmedabad on Friday.
- Shubman Gill: The GT captain has been exactly what his side needs at the top, 165 runs at 55.00 with two fifties in his first three games, providing the kind of steady platform that sets up big totals.
- Prasidh Krishna: The standout bowler of this GT side, Krishna has taken 10 wickets in four matches including a match-winning 4/28 against Lucknow that earned him Player of the Match, and he arrives here as the most in-form pacer in the tournament.
- Rashid Khan: Doing what he has always done in this format, Rashid has kept a tight economy of 6.87 while picking up five wickets, quietly strangling opposition middle overs and giving GT full control through the back half of innings.
Kolkata Knight Riders
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi: KKR’s one genuine bright spot this season, Raghuvanshi leads their run-scoring charts with 182 runs and has been the only batter in the side who has consistently looked at ease in the middle.
- Ajinkya Rahane: The KKR skipper has held a crumbling batting unit together with 152 runs this season, his top score of 67 against Mumbai Indians standing as one of the few innings KKR fans can look back on with any satisfaction.
- Varun Chakaravarthy: KKR’s most reliable wicket-taking option, Chakaravarthy continues to be a threat in the middle overs and arrives at this game having recently brought up 100 IPL wickets, a milestone that underlines just how much KKR depend on him.
- Cameron Green: Signed for โน25.2 crore and still searching for the innings that justifies it, Green has managed just 56 runs so far and with KKR’s season slipping away, Friday is fast becoming the game where he simply has to deliver.

GT vs KKR Match 25 Pitch Report โ Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
Narendra Modi Stadium is set to offer a true, batting-friendly surface with consistent bounce and pace, where the ball comes onto the bat nicely and big scores are very much on the cards โ the most recent IPL 2026 game here saw over 400 runs scored in a single match, with a competitive total this season sitting anywhere between 190 and 200 plus.
Pacers can expect some early movement in the first three or four overs, accounting for roughly 67 percent of wickets at this venue, while spinners have the boundary cushion to flight the ball but may struggle to grip it as the evening wears on. Heavy dew settling in after 8:30 PM is the defining factor โ it will make defending a total significantly harder for the side bowling second, and both captains will be desperate to win the toss and bowl first.
GT vs KKR Toss Prediction โ Match 24, IPL 2026
Today’s IPL toss prediction leans heavily towards the toss winner choosing to bowl first, with dew expected to make defending any total a serious challenge at this venue. GT are predicted to win the toss and elect to bowl first, and even if KKR get lucky with the coin, Ajinkya Rahane will almost certainly be thinking the same way.
Toss Prediction: Toss winner will bowl first. We back GT to win the toss.

IPL today match prediction firmly favours Gujarat Titans to take this one, with their batting firepower, Prasidh Krishna’s red-hot form, and the home advantage all stacking up against a KKR side that is yet to find its feet this season. Unless something dramatically clicks for KKR all at once, GT look the stronger outfit on paper and on form, and another loss for the Knights could all but shut the door on their playoff hopes.
